 The Montparnasse district: an area packed with activities

The Montparnasse district is located in the 15th arrondissement and neighbouring the 14th and 6th arrondissements of the capital. It is an easily accessible central area in Paris. You’ll find many cultural activities and dining hotspots in this neighbourhood.

 

 Cultural attractions in the Montparnasse district

There are about 60 cinema theatres in the Montparnasse district! The three cinemas close to Montparnasse Tower are UGC Montparnasse, Gaumont Parnasse and le Bretagne. The Bobino, Montparnasse and Gaîté theatres are also just a few steps from the Montparnasse Tower behemoth. If you like museums, you’ll love the Montparnasse district: the Bourdelle museum-workshop is located a few steps from the tower, the  musée Zedkine and  musée du Montparnasse are also very close by. As you wander through the Montparnasse district, enjoy a stroll in the Luxembourg gardens, or discover the uniquely charming artist houses, as well as the Montparnasse cemetery where many greats such as Jean Paul Sartre, Serge Gainsbourg or Baudelaire are laid to rest.

 

 Shopping in the Montparnasse district

100 metres from the Montparnasse Tower is the Montparnasse Tower shopping centre. But if you are an expert shopper, check out the famous Rue de Rennes shopping hotspot with all the main high street chain stores along a 1-kilometre stretch.

FRED HÔTEL near the Montparnasse Tower is only a 17-minute walk from the monument or 10 minutes by public transport.

Walking from the FRED hotel up to the Montparnasse Tower: leaving FRED HÔTEL,  turn right on rue Villemain and then right again onto rue Raymond Losserand. Continue straight until the crossing with the large Avenue du Maine then take a left. At the end of this avenue on your right is the Montparnasse Tower; you should see it just by looking up!

By public transport from FRED hotel to the Montparnasse Tower: head to the metro station “Plaisance” by going up rue Villemain on your right and turn left onto rue Raymond Losserand. The metro station Plaisance is straight ahead, at the intersection with rue d'Alésia. Take line 13 in the direction of Asnières Gennevilliers les Courtilles (the come every 4 minutes) and come out three stops away at Gare Montparnasse.
